FURNITURE BLANKS
The main end product of SIA "SELKO" is various birch furniture blanks and also various types of planed profile strips, which are exported to European furniture manufacturers. Currently, we process about 300m³ of birch sawn logs per month, which are obtained by managing our own properties and logging in purchased fellings.
Sorting birch wood into different quality grades ensures its proper use and product quality. It is possible to purchase solid birch boards, which due to their natural properties are an ecological and durable material (AA short, AA, AA long, BB short, BB, FRAME).
Birch boards are produced from good quality sawn logs (plywood logs), from which the core part is sawn separately during the production process. The material is first sawn into unsawn boards, dried and then further - into sawn boards (fixed widths without bark). The core material is sold as Frame Grade.
Birch blanks are produced for the production of glued panels, as well as for furniture production.
The blanks are sorted by quality:
AA - 4 sides without branches and visible defects. No core staining is allowed.
AB - 2 sides without branches and visible defects, 2 other sides allow live branches up to 20 mm in diameter, as well as black spot branches up to 5 mm in diameter. On side B, slight core staining is allowed.
BB - 4 sides without knots and visible defects. Allows unlimited core coloring, as well as small knots up to 5mm in diameter.
FRAME - Non-falling branches are allowed on 4 sides, as well as core color and core that is not rotten and does not significantly affect the strength of the material. It is the basic material for making upholstered furniture frames. Frame Grade birch can also be calibrated (planed) - S2S or S4S.
Standard dimensions for sawn workpieces:
24 (all thicknesses available) * 45/75 (100/125/150 mm or any width).
