Wood pellets are a product intended for heating, the production of which uses surpluses from the woodworking process - sawdust. Pellets are an environmentally friendly, energy-efficient type of heating with high heat output and low ash content.

Wood pellets are produced from softwood or hardwood chips by compressing them under high pressure. As a result, cylindrical shaped granules of 6-30 mm in length with a diameter of 4-10 mm are obtained. During pressing, the natural binder lignin is released from the wood, which holds the granule mass together and helps maintain its cylindrical shape. Thus, the pellets are a completely ecological product that does not contain additional additives or chemical impurities.

Pellets produced in Latvia are in high demand in foreign countries, as well as in the local market, where in many places, especially in regions, pellet boilers are used for heating. Pellet heating is also chosen by industrial companies, for whom this type of heating is a profitable alternative compared to natural gas or fossil fuel.

  • During the combustion of the pellets, the same amount of carbonic acid gas or CO2 is released as the amount of CO2 the tree absorbed during its growth in the forest. The use of pellets is therefore CO2 neutral.
  • The higher the calorific value of the pellets, the less pellets will be needed to produce the same amount of heat. The quality certificate ENplus-A1 provides a calorific value of up to 16.5 MJ/kg.
  • The lower the ash content, the less ash is produced when the pellets burn and the boiler needs to be cleaned less often. The ENplus-A1 certificate specifies that the ash content should not exceed 0.5%.
  • The automatic pellet boiler of efficient technology and excellent quality pellets are a guarantee that the obtained thermal energy will be used effectively, environmentally friendly and economically.
